India Ratings: Sony TV takes No.1 spot in Urban market

There was a dramatic change in the pecking order of Hindi entertainment channels in the Urban sector of India ratings, according to BARC data for Week 36 of 2018.

Sony Entertainment Television jumped to the No.1 position with 448.725 million Impressions. However, none of its shows featured inside the Top 5 list. The channel witnessed a huge surge on the back of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 10’. Star Plus stayed at No.2 with 439.702 million Impressions, followed by ZEE TV with 421.594 million Impressions and Colors fell to No.4 with 397.917 million Impressions. Sony SAB TV rounded off the Top 5 with 333.351 million Impressions.

The top shows in the Urban market were ‘Naagin 3’ on Colors with 9.551 million Impressions, followed by ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ on Star Plus and ‘Kundali Bhagya’ on ZEE TV with 7.795 million Impressions.

ZEE Anmol remained the top Hindi entertainment channel in the Urban sector with 683.566 million Impressions, followed by Star Utsav next with 463.666 million Impressions, Sony Pal with 450.706 million Impressions, Rishtey with 414.199 million Impressions and ‘Dangal’ at No.5 with 380.258 million Impressions.

The top shows in the Rural market were ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ on ZEE Anmol with 11.558 million Impressions, followed by ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ on Sony Pal with 6.906 million Impressions. ‘Zindagi Ki Mehek’ on ZEE Anmol was in third with 6.246 million Impressions.

In combined data for Urban and Rural markets, ZEE Anmol led with 838.334 million Impressions, followed by ZEE TV with 689.309 million Impressions and Star Utsav in third with 658.543 million Impressions. At No.4, it was Star Bharat with 645.596 million (last week 624.084 million) Impressions. Sony Pal remained at No. 5 spot clocking 622.584 million (last week 589.461 million) Impressions and Star Plus next with 614.665 million Impressions.

The top shows in the combined Urban and Rural sectors were ‘Naagin 3’ on Colors with 14.294 million Impressions, followed by ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ on ZEE Anmol with 13.785 Impressions Impressions and ‘Kundali Bhagya’ on ZEE TV with 12.676 million Impressions.
