Aishwarya on ‘Taal’ reaching 19 years: “We all knew Taal was magical from day one”

It was yesterday that ‘Taal’ marked 19 years since it was released in 1999. Directed by Subhash Ghai, the film starred Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Akshaye Khanna and Anil Kapoor.

Reported on Asian Age, in an interview Rai Bachchan reflects back to when she was offered the role, revealing she was surprised, but feels proud she made the decision to be apart of it.

“We all knew Taal was magical from day one. It had the grander staging typical of a Subhash Ghai film, and yet it was different from his other works, it was just magical. We knew we were working on something beautiful,” says the ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ (2016) star.

Rai Bahchan spoke about her experience working with the ‘Race 3’ (2018) actor, who has featured in a few of Ghai’s films, such as ‘Meri Jung’ (1985), ‘Karma’ (1986) and the cult classic ‘Ram Lakhan’ (1989).

“Anil and Subhash had done so many films together. To see Anil still surrender and submit to him was nice. Anil knew what he was doing, and that’s where experience comes in.” Rai Bachchan further added, “I have watched Anil perform; he has got charm, and yet he is so enthusiastic. The student in me will always observe and cherish that. It was such a pleasure working together.”

Both Rai Bachchan and Kapoor reunited on screen after 18 years in the recent release, ‘Fanney Khan’ (2018).
