Mouni Roy on teaming up with Rajkummar Rao: “Always looked up to his work”

Mouni Roy is very excited about working with the team of her newly-signed film ‘Made in China’.

Produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, the film stars Rajkummar Rao in the male lead. Roy told IANS, “I think Rajkummar is a tremendous actor and I have always looked up to his work. I can’t wait to start working with him. I am even more ecstatic to be a part of Maddock Films.”

The filmmakers are ecstatic about Roy being a part of this project as well, “We wanted someone who’d connect with the heartland and Mouni, a typical Indian beauty, has a huge fan following. She has a strong personality but gentle eyes and is a good dancer,” Vijan said, adding, “She has started working on her Gujarati dialect. Rajkummar will start preparing soon and knowing the chameleon that he is, I’m sure he’ll quickly get under the skin of the character.”

According to a source, Rao and Roy will be playing a married couple, “Rajkummar Rao plays a struggling Gujarati businessman and Mouni a Mumbai girl who moves to Ahmedabad after marrying him. She’s a simple housewife, living in a lower-middle-class locality, feisty and crazy about Raj. She’s by his side through his struggle and pushes him to go to China when the opportunity calls. Raj, who wants to give her the best, crosses the Great Wall hoping to become a successful entrepreneur. It’s the couple’s fascinating journey.”, Mumbai Mirror reported.

Roy’s Bollywood acting debut will be marked with Reema Kagti’s ‘Gold’ also starring Akshay Kumar.
