Silent film ‘White’ set for Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2018

‘White’ has been doing rounds in international film festivals recently and, after being screened at Cannes and Indian film festival in Vienna, it is now a part of Indian film festival of Melbourne 2018. ‘White; will also be a part of Sydney screenings. The festival will take place in August.

‘White’ is a silent film of feature length on rape which tells the story of three women. Being in line with the ongoing social structure of our country, ‘White’ portrays the victims to be epitome of power.

Director Aneek Chaudhuri strongly believes that the silent nature of this film is likely to approach more people globally and is likely to bring a change. This may start with the mindset of the audiences.

The region of this film is Bengal and has been shot in Kolkata plus the interiors of Bengal. Besides, it is an independent project that has already peaked up beyond expectations.

Chaudhuri adds, “The whole idea of White came up in pieces and it got improvised during the pre-production phase. Earlier, it was decided that the film will loosely be based on the cinema verite format; it got evolved into a much polished piece.”

The film will be next screened in Boston and Indian film festival of Ireland later this year.
