Complaint filed against ‘Sanju’

With the release of Rajkumar Hirani’s next ‘Sanju’ looming, the filmmaker is reportedly facing a complaint against the biopic, claiming that ‘Sanju’ makers have represented the authorities of a particular building in bad light.

According to Mirror, the trailer shows a scene where Ranbir Kapoor who plays Sanjay Dutt, is locked in a cell at Pune’s Yerwada Central Prison where his toilet is shown to be flooded. In a complaint letter by a Prithvi Mhaske to the Central Board of Film Certification, it stated, “In the trailer of the movie, we have seen a scene that Sanjay Dutt was in such a barrack of a jail in which the toilet overflowed. As per the information available, the government and jail authorities are taking very well care of all the barracks of the jails. We never heard any such incidents anywhere.”

Though there have been many films in the past that portray jails and it’s authorities in a negative light, the statement went in to say, “This particular scene will make a bad impression about the jails and jails authorities of Indians. If there is no action about the same by you then we are left with no option to approach honourable court to put stay on the release of the movie.”

Also starring Manisha Koirlala, Paresh Rawal, Anushka Sharma and Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, ‘Sanju’ is set for release on 29th June.
