Manisha Koirala to play Sanjay Dutt’s wife in Hindi remake of ‘Prasthaanam’

Manisha Koirala is playing the role of Sanjay Dutt’s mother, the late actress Nargis in ‘Sanju’, the upcoming biopic on Sanjay Dutt. While she is playing Dutt’s mother in the film, Koirala will be playing his wife in Dutt’s upcoming untitled production, a Hindi remake of the Telugu success ‘Prasthaanam’ (2010).

Mirror reports that the film will start rolling in Lucknow on 1st June, which would of been Nargis’ 89th birthday. A source revealed, “Manisha and Sanjay have known each other for many years and are excited to work together again. Manisha has really liked the script and immediately agreed to come on board.”

Dutt’s film will be directed by Deva Katta, who directed ‘Prasthaanam’ as well. He confirmed Koirala’s casting, saying, “Each character in Prasthanam has a very strong role to play for which we needed actors with great calibre. When the team came up with the idea of casting Manisha for the part of Sanjay’s onscreen wife, it felt like the perfect match. I am looking forward to direct them, especially since they are coming back together after 10 years.”

Koirala was last seen in ‘Dear Maya’ (2017).
