Mohit Madaan on ‘Ishq Tera’ being based on alternative subject

Popular actor Mohit Madaan has spoken to BizAsiaLive.com about his latest project, ‘Ishq Tera’, which is based on an unconventional subject for a Bollywood film. Madaan, who stars with Hrishitaa Bhatt in the film, has spoken highly about the film and its concept.

Tell us briefly about ‘Ishq Tera’?
‘Ishq Tera’ is a journey of a woman who faces split personality and how her husband tries to stand by her side despite all the incidents taking place in her life. He tries to get her out of this mess and get both their lives on track.

How did the project come to you?
It was actually a coincidence and a case of being at the right place at the right time. The director had saw me on one of the screens where some work was going on for one of my projects. He then wanted to meet me after which I heard the script. I said “yes” immediately as I have a friend who has been going through split personality.

You’re working with Hrishitaa Bhatt in ‘Ishq Tera’, tell us about your working relationship with her?
Hrishitaa is a much experienced actor than me and it was pleasant working with her. I did get to learn a lot from her and she remains one of my good friends till date. She is a fun loving personality who always has a smile on her face.

What did you find testing or challenging in ‘Ishq Tera’?
Reacting to a split character is difficult as they change at any trigger point. You don’t know what will happen next and how they will react to you. It’s a very sudden change you have to bring out as an actor.

Playing the character of a husband coming to terms with his wife’s split personality, must have been played sensitively – did you do research for this?
It had to be played very sensitively. I have seen real life incidents and learnt that one must always do these three things to make any individual feel comfortable. Understand them, support them, give love.

With alternative subjects now being accepted more in Bollywood, do you feel ‘Ishq Tera’ will be embraced by the public?
‘Ishq Tera’ is certainly an alternative subject. The audience likes different content nowadays. They are intelligent and have access to world cinema. ‘Ishq Tera’ is a film anybody will be able to relate to. People are stressed and mentally disturbed in today’s times. It is shown in the film.

What’s next for Mohit after ‘Ishq Tera’?
I am shooting for a few more films. A romantic thriller is on the cards and a comedy film.

‘Ishq Tera’ is out now.
