BCCI Media Rights: Bidding exceeds Rs. 60 crore into third day e-auction

In what is expected to be a landmark deal, the bidding war for India cricket matches played during the 2018-2023 period, is set to exceed a humongous Rs. 60 crore.

At the end of the second day e-auction held by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), a bid was placed for Rs 6032.5 crore. The anonymous bidding is split between Star India, Sony Pictures Networks and Reliance Jio. The BCCI media rights value is already up by 56 per cent, with the per match value touching nearly Rs. 60 crore for 102 international games across three formats.

The categories have been split into three by BCCI – global television rights and rest of the world digital rights (GTVRD), digital rights for the Indian subcontinent alone (ID), and the global consolidated rights comprising worldwide TV and digital rights (GCR).

After no successful outcome over the last couple of days, the bidding war has gone into day three, it remains to be seen who the successful winner will be later.
