Sony TV to launch ‘Dus Ka Dum’ in weekday slot from June

Sony Entertainment Television has confirmed that it will be launching its much awaited ‘Dus Ka Dum’ reality show in the weekday slot from June.

BizAsiaLive.com understands that the channel will open up its weekday 21:00 slot for reality TV shows. Come June, Sony TV will give viewers a taste of reality TV shows during weekdays, which is usually a property kept for weekends on Indian television.

As of Monday 4th June (tentative), ‘Dus Ka Dum’ hosted by Salman Khan will take the 21:00 slot for two days per week, with the remaining three days being taken up by the Indian version of singing reality show ‘Crossroads’ based on a show on UK broadcaster, CMT. The next series of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ will also air in the same slot later in the year.

In an interview cited in TelevisionPost, SET EVP and business head Danish Khan said, “We believe that the 9pm slot will do well with limited fiction series as well as with shows like Dus Ka Dum, KBC, and Crossroads. I think a lot of people today need variety. The moment we get non-fiction at 9 pm then the overall line-up will be really good and we hope to grow on ratings as well.”
