Overnights: Prime TV overtakes Star Plus again on Friday

British Pakistani channel, Prime TV has once again emerged as the No.1 Asian TV channel in UK ratings on Friday, beating market leader, Star Plus, according to exclusive data obtained by BizAsiaLive.com .

Prime TV sailed passed Star Plus with one of its best ever shares. The channel clocked up a share of 0.20%, compared to Star Plus’ share of 0.14%. This is the second time in a week that Prime TV has overtaken Star Plus after doing the same last Saturday. However, this time, the margin is bigger and Prime TV’s share is also one of its biggest ever.

Prime TV has been on ratings high since the start of the Pakistan Super League last month. Its ratings have consistently been on the higher end and with the tournament in its half-way stage, Prime TV’s ratings are expected to climb further.

Yesterday, Prime TV’s coverage of the Pakistan Super League was watched by over 30,000 viewers during the course of the two matches between 11:00 and 20:00. The channel’s audience peaked to 56,400 viewers around 18:30.

Hum Masala, the second PSL 2018 broadcaster in the UK, managed to rake in 6,200 viewers for the first match and a further 9,800 viewers for the second match at 15:30.

Star Plus’ top rated shows on Friday were ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’ at 19:30 with 73,800 viewers, followed by ‘Tu Sooraj Mein Saanjh Piyaji’ at 19:00 with 52,900 viewers and ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ at 18:00 with 49,800 viewers.

Sony SAB TV also did well with a share of 0.07%. Its top rated shows were ‘Tenali Rama’ 19:00 with 24,800 viewers and ‘Spice Up’ at 17:30 with 21,500 viewers, followed by ‘Jija Ji Chhat Par Hain’ with 10,800 viewers and movie ‘Mehndi’ at 14:00 with 10,500 viewers.

Other channels yesterday in the pecking order consisted of Hum TV with 0.05% share, followed by Star Gold with 0.04%, Star Bharat and Sony Entertainment Television with 0.03% and ZEE TV and Sony MAX with 0.02%.
