SAB TV cleverly pits Filmfare Awards against Colors on Sunday

In a strategic move to lure viewers, Sony SAB TV has pitted a repeat telecast of last year’s Filmfare Awards, against this year’s original telecast of the Bollywood awards ceremony on Colors this Sunday, in UK.

Sony SAB TV will broadcast the 62nd Filmfare Awards 2017 at 20:00 on Sunday, directly opposite the 63rd Filmfare Awards 2018 at 20:00 on the same night – a deliberate move by the former to lap up viewers.

It will be interesting to see how much the move will impact the ratings for Colors TV. It will be the first time the broadcaster will air the Filmfare Awards. Up until now, Sony Entertainment Television has been the sole broadcaster of the awards.
