Surbhi Chandna to play double role in ‘Ishqbaaaz’

The Nakuul Mehta and Surbhi Chandna starrer ‘Ishqbaaaz’ has certainly had it’s fair share of drama, and now it has been revealed that there’s another plot twist to the show.

Reported on Pinkvilla, Chandna shared in an interview that her character – Anika, is set to play a double role, which has been inspired by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s character from ‘Josh’ (2000). This comes after Shivaay (played by Mehta), is seen shooting Anika, making way for the ‘new’ Anika.

Chandna explains how it will bring about a more fun-loving side. “The initial phase of Anika has always been my favourite when she was elegant yet quirky. Anika has become more poised, more so after her marriage with Shivaay.  And now, this lookalike will be the complete opposite of what Anika has been. You can say, she will be highly inspired by Aishwarya Rai’s character from Josh. The character will be more fun-loving and will have a comic touch to it.”

Previously when asked about her character, Chandna said that Anika was definitely different compared to other female roles on Indian television and a much welcome change. “I feel Anika is the biggest example of Nayi Soch because I don’t see a character like Anika on Indian Television; someone who stands up for herself and who is as blunt as her. When a girl can actually fight with someone as novel and as grand as Shivaay Singh Oberoi, and can fight for her brother or her family, or anybody for that matter.”
