Ankita Lokhande hopes her acting is taken seriously after ‘Manikarnika’

Ankita Lokhande is still remembered for her iconic role as Archana from ZEE TV’s ‘Pavitra Rishta’, and she is all ready for her Bollywood debut in ‘Manikarnika’. Her role as Jhalkaribai is an mighty important one, and Lokhande hopes that after this role, people take her seriously as an actress.

Lokhande told Mirror, “People only know Jhalkaribai as a warrior and a replica of Rani Lakshmibai, and that made the role doubly challenging. When I discussed my scenes with Danny sir (Danny Denzongpa), he advised me to do it my way and today I believe she must have been someone like me. I know I will do a love story in the future but something like this will never come to me. I only hope that after this film people take me seriously as an actress as it’s a powerful character that demands a performance.”

Lokhande also added that she was offered the opportunity to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali but missed it, saying, “I love Sanjay sir and he lauded my talent and urged me not to waste my time. But I missed out on the opportunity.”

‘Manikarnika’ feature Kangna Ranaut in the leading role.
