Walt Disney takeover of 21st Century Fox to be announced imminently

Walt Disney’s lucrative $60 billion deal to acquire entertainment assets of 21st Century Fox, could be announced as early as Thursday (14th December), its been reported.

According to CNBC, an announcement by Disney is on track for Thursday. It will include the purchase of 20th Century Fox film studios, television channels under the Fox, Sky, Star and National Geographic brand. It will also take the regional sports cable networks that Fox currently owns. Plus, the digital platform, Hulu.

The big change will see Indian TV broadcaster, Star TV fall under the Disney umbrella. Star India just recently promoted Uday Shankar as President of 21st Century Fox Asia.

Earlier, Fox was said to be in talks also with other potential buyers including Comcast but the latter dropped out of the race on Monday.
