‘Padmavati’ row taking its toll on Deepika Padukone?

Deepika Padukone has been laying low for a few days after the release of her controversial film ‘Padmavati’ was put back until next year.

Apparently, the ongoing row is taking its toll on the actress, with reports suggesting that she was moved to tears at a recent event.

PinkVilla reports that the actress walked away with an award at a recent event. During her winning speech, she reportedly got emotional where spoke about being fearless and following the heart.

Talking about the protests, she said, “It’s appalling, it’s absolutely appalling. What have we gotten ourselves into? And where have we reached as a nation? We have regressed,” she said.

“The only people we are answerable to is the censor board, and I know and I believe that nothing can stop the release of this film,” said Deepika, adding that the film industry’s support symbolises how “this is not about ‘Padmavati’… We’re fighting a much bigger battle.”
