UK TV Reach: Samaa TV tops news genre

Samaa TV outdid its rivals in the South Asian news genre in the UK in latest BARB figures for week ending 26th November 2017.

Samaa TV delivered a weekly reach of 269,000 viewers beating its others competitions including Geo News with 255,000 viewers and New Vision TV with 218,000 viewers. Aaj Tak was next with 176,000 viewers, followed by Dunya News with 164,000 viewers, ABP News with 147,000 viewers, NDTV 24×7 with 140,000 viewers, UK 44 with 78,000 viewers, Times Now with 55,000 viewers and News18 with 0.

GEC genre
Star Plus stayed on top despite losing viewers this week. It registered 694,000 viewers – down from 800,000 viewers last week. It was followed by Colors with 400,000 viewers, Hum TV with 374,000 viewers, &TV with 373,000 viewers, Zing with 347,000 viewers, Sony Entertainment Television with 314,000 viewers and Star Bharat with 299,000 viewers.

The next tier consisted of Sony SAB TV with 257,000 viewers, PTC Punjabi with 251,000 viewers, ZEE TV with 239,000 viewers, Rishtey with 236,000 viewers, Geo TV with 231,000 viewers, Hum Masala with 209,000 viewers, Akaal Channel with 142,000 viewers, ATN Bangla with 132,000 viewers, Prime TV with 127,000 viewers, Star Utsav with 107,000 viewers, Geo Kahani with 98,000 viewers, Venus TV with 82,000 viewers, NTV Europe with 81,000 viewers, PTV Global with 69,000 viewers, ZEE Punjabi with 60,000 viewers, A Plus Europe with 46,000 viewers and Urdu 1 Europe with 39,000 viewers.

Movie genre
Star Gold comfortably stayed ahead of its rivals with a reach of 487,000 viewers, followed by ZEE Cinema with 350,000 viewers, Rishtey Cineplex with 317,000 viewers, Sony MAX with 309,000 viewers and B4U Movies with 254,000 viewers.

Music genre
B4U Music was the biggest Asian music channel with 243,000 viewers, followed by Brit Asia TV with 98,000 viewers, MTV Beats with 91,000 viewers and Sony Mix with 27,000 viewers.
