More legal trouble for ‘Padmavati’
The Supreme Court may have rejected a potential ban on ‘Padmavati’, but the film is still attracting legal trouble.
Lawyer Kamlesh Chandra Tripathi has filed a PIL (public interest litigation) in the Civil Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Court-6 in Varanasi, according to which the local police has been ordered to register an FIR against Sanjay Leela Bhansali under Sections 295(A), 502, 505 of the IPC, DNA India reports.
Tripathi is hoping for a ban on the film and strict action against Bhansali for taking artistic liberties in the depiction of Rani Padmavati and hurting the sentiments of Indian citizens. Bhansali has denied the disrespectful portrayal of the historical figure. According to TOI Lucknow, he is scheduled in court on 16th December to record his statement.
The release of ‘Padmavati’ has been postponed until further notice.
