Sunny Leone speaks up on Bollywood’s casting couch

Whilst Hollywood has been facing its own revolution following the Harvey Weinstein scandal of sexual abuse, Bollywood has remained mute on the subject. However actress Sunny Leone has raised her voice in support of the abuse both women and men face in the Indian film industry.

Leone, who has faced numerous harassment situations herself, has once again spoken out fearlessly saying the casting couch definitely exists. “I haven’t experienced the casting couch. I was sheltered by Daniel and my team. But does it exist in the industry? Absolutely! It’s not just the women, men too face similar issues,” said Leone as reported in Mid-Day.

The actress went onto say that she hoped Bollywood would start raising its voice too and speaking up. “The more people speak, the louder the voice is going to be. This will instil faith in the young generation, especially women. There might be a day when our industry will be free of it. I’m proud of all the women who have taken a stand”, she added.

Whether Bollywood does indeed speak up remains to be seen.
