Protesters want release of ‘Padmavati’ shifted to new date

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much awaited epic romantic drama ‘Padmavati’, which is slated to release on 1st December 2017, could be pushed back due to ongoing threats from political parties.

Talking to Mid-Day, a source said, “The assembly elections in Gujarat are on December 9 and 14, and the results will be out on December 18. The police force will be on election duty. Also, the ruling party fears losing support from the right-wing groups that are morally opposed to the film. Though an official communication hasn’t gone to the producers, they have been intimated that the party wants the film to be delayed.”

However, the makers are admamant to stick to their 1st December 2017 release date. They have also reassured the Rajput Karni Sena that there are no dream sequences between Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone’s characters.

Singh recently said, “I do have strong opinions on this subject, which I wish to express. But I’ve been requested by the team to not voice it to avoid further hurdles. I channelled the angst into my performance. These are issues none of us anticipated. It’s unfortunate.”
