Ranveer Singh’s ‘Padmavati’ character to remain close to history

Over the past few weeks, rumours have been rife that Ranveer Singh’s character Allaudin Khilji in ‘Padmavati’ will be bisexual, as well as be singing and dancing in the film. However, this is reportedly untrue. Apparently, Singh’s character will be close to the historical facts as possible.

A source told Deccan Chronicle, “In fact, he’s shown to be quite in opposition to music. Ranveer does no singing, dancing or romancing — not even with his on-screen wife Aditi Rao Hydari, with whom he’s shown to be quite brutal and abrupt.”

The source added, “While Ranveer won’t sing and dance, Bhansali is shooting a lavish celebration song, where he will feature as a spectator.” There’s also speculation that Ranveer’s Allaudin is to be a bisexual in Padmavati. But no such sexual libertinage is afforded to his character. “He isn’t portrayed as a bisexual in the movie, whatever the historical figure’s preferences may have been in real life.”

‘Padmavati’ releases on 1st December 2017.
