Indian reporter Gauri Lankesh shot dead

Indian journalist, Gauri Lankesh has been shot dead by unidentified attackers at her residence in Bangalore.

The 55-year old editor of local weekly magazine, Lankesh Patrike was attacked as she left her car to get into her home, according to Al Jazeera.

Police said it was too early to comment on who killed her. The officer, RK Dutta had met Lankesh recently but did not talk of any death threats.

Friends of the journalist described her as a fearless and outspoken journalist.
