TV stars react to triple talaq ban in India

The Indian Supreme Court has banned the triple talaq in India, the Muslim practice that allows men to instantly divorce their wives. It branded it “unconstitutional” after years of campaigning.

The bench comprised of five judges of different faiths deliberated for three months before issuing its order. The order comes in response to petitions from seven Muslim women who had been divorced through triple talaq. More than 20 Muslim countries, including neighbouring Pakistan and Bangladesh, have banned the practice. TV celebrities spoke about the decision.
