Salman & Aishwarya were initial choice for ‘Padmavati’?

If reports are to be believed, Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were being lured into working in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next ‘Padmavati’.

According to Open magazine, the former couple was the first choice for the romantic saga. The report adds that Bhansali had approached them a few years ago but there was a catch. Apparently, Bachchan had agreed to do the film only if Khan played the role of antagonist Alauddin Khilji so she wouldn’t need to do any scenes with him. However, Khan refused the offer but was keen to work with Bachchan.

‘Padmavati’ now stars Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor, which releases this November.
