Lebara Play adds Sony MAX to line-up

The OTT platform, Lebara Play has added popular movies and entertainment channel, Sony MAX to its line-up.

It is believed the channel has re-launched on the platform, to give Lebara Play subscribers access to the India V Sri Lanka cricket series. Sony MAX holds the exclusive UK/Europe rights of the tournament, which concludes in September. The channel is expected to remain on Lebara Play until then.

The move follows Lebara Play’s decision to drop Hindi entertainment and news channels to focus on solely South Indian and Sri Lankan content.

Sony MAX’s parent company, Sony Pictures Networks has pulled out all the stops to promote the cricket series. It’s been a few years since live cricket has been broadcast on UK Asian television (excluding PSL) so the interest is naturally much higher. Further, Sony Pictures Network will become the first UK Asian broadcaster to air live cricket in HD when its Sony MAX HD channel launches next week on Sky.
