UK ratings: First three days of New Vision TV

Since New Vision TV relaunched ARY World in the UK market earlier this year, the one question posed by many industry professionals was whether it will be able to claw back lost ground after its sudden exit in January.

In the UK, ARY News was re-morphed as New Vision TV (ARY World) with new packaging but with fewer live shows to avoid running issues with media regulator Ofcom. So have the changes worked in favour of the popular service? BizAsiaLive.com takes a look.

New Vision TV began reporting official UK viewing data on Monday this week, so we decided to scrutinise the data for the first three days.

Firstly, on Monday, New Vision TV failed to impress with Off The Record With Kashif Abbasi’ at 17:00 pulling in 5,700 viewers. Its ratings saw a significant increase on Tuesday with ‘News’ at 18:05 topping the chart with 11,800 viewers, while ’11th Hour With Waseem Badami’ at 20:05 raking in 9,600 viewers and ‘Off The Record With Kashif Abbasi’ at 17:05 with 9,400 viewers.

It was Wednesday though the channel grabbed the biggest audience with ‘The Morning Show’ at 09:05 registering 30,200 viewers, followed by ‘Off The Record With Kashif Abbasi’ at 17:05 WITH 10,900 viewers and ‘News’ at 11:00 with 10,300 viewers.

With a number of Urdu news channels now vying for the top position, it remains to be seen if ARY World in its new avatar will be able strong enough to take back the lead.

Above data is an overnight rating supplied by Attentional – and may change slightly after consolidated figures become available in seven days from BARB.
