The Sun mistakenly reports Prince Phillip has died

In an embarrassing turn of events for one of Britain’s leading tabloids, The Sun, has mistakenly reported that Prince Philip has died.

The story, which was published for a few minutes before being taken down quickly read, “Prince Philip dead at 95, how did the Duke of Edinburgh die, etc etc.”, with the following also being published “Prince Philip, otherwise known as the Duke of Edinburgh, was the husband of Queen Elizabeth II.”

The article has been removed from The Sun website, however, it still seems to be listed on Google.

Rumours of an emergency announcement went into frenzy after the Queen called her aides and team for a meeting at Buckingham Palace. The BBC reported that the meeting was not cause for concern and meetings like this happen once a year.
