9XM to leave Sky Digital within days
Bollywood music channel, 9XM is expected to leave the UK broadcasting space within the next few days, BizAsia can confirm.
The channel, which has had a rocky path since it re-launched in February last year will cease its transmission later this week.
9XM re-entered the UK market after a gap of 18 months last year through a distribution deal with World Media Connect.
The channel’s ratings, which were measured by BARB, were lower compared to its rivals. 9XM had an average weekly reach of 150,000 viewers. Rival broadcaster, Zing has regularly attracted over 450,000 viewers per week.
It is rumoured that 9XM’s EPG slot has been sold to IndiaCast, who operate Rishtey in the UK, to launch Viacom18 channel MTV India.
A spokesperson for IndiaCast refused to confirm details but BizAsia understands that a new channel is just days away.
