9X makes a comeback with two new shows

9X UK is staging a comeback with two new shows starting in March, with plenty more new offerings lined up in subsequent months.

This will be the first time 9X has introduced fresh programming since the much talked about Indian television strike back in November.

A part of the new changes will see the launch of paranormal series ‘Black’. The show takes viewers into the unknown territory of exploring the dark side of life.

According to the channel, “Black is the story of two people, Ranbir – Officer on special duty and his assistant Aliya, two people who want to know more and want to make you and me understand what this realm is all about, what we in our ordinary life refer to as paranormal phenomena.”

‘Black’ commences on Monday 16th March and will run at 22:30 Monday through to Thursday.

A light hearted show – ‘Zamana Badal Gaya’ launches later in the month. The sitcom is about generation gaps and double standards of the middle class. A channel spokesman told BizAsia.co.uk about ‘Zamana Badal Gaya’, “Mathur and his wife Veena, Mathur’s wealthy brother Mohanlal and his family and their overtly traditional mother Leela Devi are the protagonists of the show. The difference in the point of view of the children and the adults lead to hilarious situations as many of the demands and pranks of the kids undermine the conventions of society. A down to earth, contemporary drama that reflects middle class life with its joys, sorrows and delightful moments. Foibles of the Indian Middle class.”

‘Zamana Badal Gaya’ starts on Monday 30th March and will air throughout the week at 23:00.

Also a part of the new March line-up, 9X will be dropping the heavy repeats and replace them with new music timebands. The music “filler” time slots will feature Bollywood music from the past and present.

9X has also acquired the rights to this year’s Glagrags Mrs India contest, which will be shown on the channel in April.

Three other new shows ‘Chandni Raatein’, ‘Biwi O Biwi’ and ‘Kuch Kook Hota Hai’ will be starting in April/May.
