9X ceases broadcasting in the UK

INX Network’s Hindi entertainment channel 9X has ceased broadcasting today on both Sky Digital (828) and Freesat (662).

The channel is currently simulcasting its sister station 9XM.

9XM will run as a hybrid of the two channels in the UK with a slew of new shows commencing later this month. 9XM donned its new look as a hybrid service in June.

The reason for the departure of 9X is mainly down to the downturn in the economic climate.

9X launched with much fanfare in April last year when it bought the former Sky Digital slot of DD News. In August, 9XM launched in the UK and fast became a strong contender in the music genre of channels.

9X will continue as normal in India.

A new channel will replace 9X soon, details of which will be released on BizAsia.co.uk later this week.
