7/11 Blasts: Channels switch to rolling news

Asian TV channels in the UK all switched to ‘breaking news’ coverage of the bomb blasts, which hit the financial centre of India’s capital Mumbai on Tuesday.

The news broke at around 14:15 (BST) when news channels STAR News, CNN-IBN (South Asia World) and NDTV 24×7 were amongst the first to begin their rolling news feed on the major story.

As details filtered through and the death toll in the blasts rose, other British channels such as ZEE TV, Sky News and BBC News switched to live coverage from India.

Other channels continued to update viewers with flashes of on screen news tickers and images throughout the afternoon/evening.
