��Cocktail�۪ off to a flying start

Written by Imtiaz Ali and directed by Homi Adajania, ��Cocktail�۪, which released yesterday has taken a bumper start at the box office.

The extraordinary initial has taken many by surprise as the film was never classified as mass friendly but more geared towards the youth and the so called yuppy crowd. However, the lilting tracks, refreshing promos and stellar performances seem to have done the trick and the film has been appreciated all round.

According to Box Office India, the film collected in the region of Rs10 crore (approx. �1.3m) on the first day itself, which is surprising given the genre to which it belongs.

The success of the film will come as a relief to both Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan who�۪s last few releases failed miserably at the box office.

A love triangle, ‘Cocktail’ also stars newcomer Diana Penty, Dimple Kapadia and Boman Irani with Randeep Hooda in a cameo.
