��Cocktail�۪ has no similarities to ‘Love Aaj Kal’

As reported by BizAsia yesterday, the promos of Saif Ali Khan�۪s home production ��Cocktail�۪ have aroused curiosity with the theme and overall look being appreciated immensely all round. The only niggle is that there is a somewhat striking resemblance to the 2009 smash hit ��Love Aaj Kal�۪ which also starred Saif and Deepika in the lead. Deepika on her part however, has quashed all rumours saying the similarities between the films end at the lead pair.

“The minute people see Saif and me together, they will think about ‘Love Aaj Kal’. Yes, of course, Imtiaz has written the script, but it is directed by Homi Adajania who had earlier made ‘Being Cyrus. Yes, it is a love story, but it is also about friendship, betrayal, fun and trust. So I think in terms of the film, it is very, very different,” she said in an interview to Mid-Day.

In the film, Padukone plays Veronica, a foul mouthed, confident, bold character that falls for Saif�۪s character. Newcomer Diana Penty completes the love triangle. In the interview, Deepika also went on to reveal that she had a choice between her and Penty�۪s character but she chose Veronica as the other character was quite similar to Meera ��� her character in ��Love Aaj Kal�۪.

��Cocktail�۪ is written by Imtiaz Ali and directed by Homi Adajania and sees Padukone with Khan for the third time after ��Love Aaj Kal�۪ (2009) and ��Aarakshan�۪ (2011). It releases on Friday 13th July and also stars Randeep Hooda, Dimple Kapadia and Boman Irani in key roles.
