Release dates have been all over the place this year. BizAsia reported how earlier Akshay Kumar۪s Khiladi 786۪ was to be a Diwali release and compete for footfalls with Son of Sardaar۪ (starring Ajay Devgn, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt and Juhi Chawla) and Yash Chopra۪s next (SRK, Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma). However, Kumar wisely stalled the release date of his film to come a bit later in the year. But to no avail it seems, as according to a snippet in the Times of India, his film will now be competing with the Aamir Khan starrer Talaash۪ instead.
Talaash۪ was supposed to release on 30th November, but industry sources claim that it will now only hit theatres on 7th December. This is also the tentative release date for the Akshay Kumar starrer.
It makes no business sense for two big budget films to release on the same date and eat into each others collections, even if they belong to completely different genres. Talaash۪ is a thriller, and tells the story of a cop (Khan), his wife (played by Rani Mukerji) and a prostitute (Kareena Kapoor) and how their lives get intertwined following a series of murders and inexplicable events. Khiladi 786۪, on the other hand, is a slapstick comedy and along with Kumar, stars Himesh Reshmmiya, Asin and Ileana D’Cruz.
Let۪s wait and watch to see if this much touted clash does in fact go ahead.
