ARY Family rebrands to ARY Digital in UK

The ARY Digital brand has returned to the UK, three years after it was dropped due to legal complications. Since then, ARY Digital was broadcasting under the brand ARY Family.

As of Friday 13th November, ARY Family has morphed into the flagship brand, ARY Digital. While the name will have no impact on its programming, ARY Digital UK will run concurrently with its Pakistan service. The broadcaster will no longer need to treat ARY Family as a different service, as it will be able to run on-air/digital promos from Pakistan on its UK version of ARY Digital.

In 2017, Ofcom revoked the licences of ARY Network’s UK channels – ARY Digital, ARY News and ARY QTV after the company went into liquidation. The company went bust as a result of a UK court ruling, in which it was said that ARY had defamed Jang Group’s Chief Editor, Mir Shakilur Rehman. As well as paying £185,000 in damages, the network also faced legal costs of over £2 million.

However, despite this, ARY Digital returned later in the year as ARY Family and ARY News as New Vision TV, under a new company. Currently, it is not known if New Vision TV will return as ARY News. BizAsiaLive.com understands that work is underway.

ARY Digital is available on Sky channel 758.
